Land Navigation and orienteering is the art of using a map and compass to know where you are, find where you have been and get to where you are going. There are some very good sources of information and instruction available online and particularly Youtube.com. Military Land Navigation is known as Military Grid Reference System MGRS and uses the metric system. It is more effective.
