What is SPIKE?
SPIKE is an acronym for Specially Prepared Individuals for Key Events. This program is all about training, learning and teaching. SPIKE is the brainchild of Retired Army Special Forces Col. James “Bo” Gritz, the highest decorated Commander of Special Force with five tours of duty in the Viet Nam War and the first Operations and Intelligence officer of Delta Force. Please visit our About page to learn more.
After a long Military career and seeing a shift in the political and the American cultural landscape in the early 1990’s, Col. Gritz decided to share his years of knowledge and experience with any law abiding citizen that would use this knowledge for the good of themselves and others. SPIKE training is all about improving every aspect of your life. Knowledge and confidence will better your existence at home and work, in your community and among your peers.
Having the skills to survive in the wilderness or the concrete jungle and the ability to teach and share those skills with others will change your life. In good times and in bad these skills are invaluable to everyone. Preparing for life should be a required class, but these skills are often taught by life, and not at school. Unexpected events in weather, financial difficulties, health, government interruption or shortages in fuel or food can happen at any time. SPIKE training will help you, your family and your community to prepare for all of these and many more.
While we roll out this website you will notice that we intend to cover many subjects and continually grow. A few areas of skills we will cover are; urban and wilderness survival, Map and Compass land navigation, communications, self-defense, on and off road Driving, First Aid and advanced life saving skills, food storage, fitness and nutrition, field craft, mountaineering, Alternative energy and many, many more. Our motto is “We Stand Ready” now it’s time you prepare….for anything and everything!
While this website has a section that focuses on “Manliness”, SPIKE is for everyone. Every person regardless of race, religion, sex or age is welcomed and encouraged to gain knowledge. Additionally we do expect everyone that participates with SPIKE to be polite and respectful of others, yet, “Political Correctness” is not a part of our creed. DO NOT however, bring your Prejudices’ here, they will not be warmly received. If you are a law-abiding citizen or resident of earth and respect the constitution of our great nation, I hope you will join us here at SPIKE TEAM and have some serious fun while improving your life and learning life skills.

Got Light?
When it comes to tactical weapons lights, what do people prefer and why? I am currently looking to add a rail mounted light + laser to my Sig 229.
